Jennifer Garner was originally born in Houston Texas on April 17th 1973. However, she was raised in Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner was her father and a chemical engineering for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner, the mother of Patricia Ann, taught at the local college. She graduated in chemical engineering to emulate her father. In order to pursue her dream of acting, she decided to move to New York and try her acting career in the world of acting in Hollywood. In addition to appearing in Broadway productions, she was a waitress at the nearby restaurant. Her first husband Scott Foley met her on the TV show "Felicity," where she appeared as a character. Garner received her first break in the action thriller "Alias." The actress's debut main role as a lead actress was on the highly acclaimed romantic comedy "13 Going to 30." Garner played a teenage girl trapped in a 30 year old body. Garner chose Gary Winick as the director of the film. The team continued to look for roles until Winick's passing in 2011. Garner received the title of an artist ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. The program focuses on education, nutrition, and literacy as well as early childhood education. In 2014, Garner has been a participant on the trustees' board of this group, promoting early learning for children. Being a part of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) team of ambassadors for the program Garner regularly visits families to coach them on ways to encourage their young children to be successful.
